Forget BIOS password? Use PC CMOS Cleaner

One method for protecting a computer from changing settings or settings by people who are not responsible is to give a password on the BIOS (Basic Input Output System), or the first time the system is active and set the hardware issues (hardware) when the computer is turned on.

But there are times when it is very long, we forget the passwords we've used, or we buy a laptop that was given its BIOS password, so that when you want to reinstall windows / operating system or changing the BIOS settings, we had trouble to do so.

If it happens on a desktop computer, is quite simple and easy way. Stay off the computer, unplug it and run one of the following ways:
  1. Remove the CMOS battery that is inside the motherboard (like a watch battery with a diameter of about 2 cm) a few minutes and back again. or,
  2. Reset (return to initial setting) by removing the BIOS jumper (sort of hook) specifically the motherboard. Its position is usually near the CMOS battery and there is information JMP1 or JP1. More details can be found in the guide / manual of the motherboard. Read also my article here Computer suddenly died (Not to be turn on)? try these tips
But the problem is when it happens on your laptop / notebook or netbook or computer is still under warranty. Because usually quite risky when we have to open the laptop itself, especially if there is still warranty. It could be that the warranty is no longer valid because the seal had been opened.

The alternative is to use a PC CMOS Cleaner program. And the good news, the program has now been released as freeware, so we can download it and use it for free. Some of the benefits of using PC CMOS Cleaner include:
  1. Displays the previous passwords
  2. Removing the BIOS password (returns to the initial state). BIOS date will also be reset
  3. Restore the BIOS to its initial state
This program can be used for Windows-based 32-bit or 64-bit with a variety of BIOS are supported, such as: AWARD, AMI, Compaq, Phoenix, Samsung, IBM, Compaq, DTK, Thinkpad, Sony, Toshiba and others.

How to Use:

Use of this program is quite easy, it's just that there is a note that its use successfully, which should be able to boot from the CD / DVD Rom. The steps:
  1. Download PC CMOS Cleaner is in the form / format of ISO
  2. Burning the ISO file to a CD-ROM, for example by using a program ImgBurn or Nero Burning ROM
  3. Insert the CD into the CD / DVD-ROM drive, and restart the computer.
  4. If we could access the computer boot sequence when the computer starts up, set it to order first read the CD / DVD-ROM (set the first boot from the CD)
  5. If successful entry into the PC CMOS, used to remove, or to know the previous password reset.

When we can not set the boot order so that the first time the computer is accessible CD / DVD-ROM, then the computer may not be able to boot from the CD. So the above methods will not work. And the only way possible is a 2 way that I described at the beginning of this paper.

If for netbooks, is usually not available CD / DVD-ROM that can be used, then the solution may be tried are looking for a CD / DVD ekstenal or attempted to make a bootable USB stick with a program such as Rufus. Once done, plug it in and then try restart the netbook, choose to boot from the media (flash) if available option.
